Simon Cowell Sets Sail on Slipstream

American Idol bigwig Simon Cowell has joined the superyacht crowd in St. Barths aboard his $450,000-per-week chartered superyacht Slipstream. The 196-footer, the largest yacht ever launched by Frances CMN Shipyard, is 12 inches shorter than P. Diddys much-admired iPad-fired Solemates, and considerably cheaper even taking into account the added expense of a private chef and other add-ons. With luxe accommodation for 12 guests plus a crew of 14, Slipstream features mirrors above a giant waterbed, a Jacuzzi, an observation lounge with panoramic views, gym and a sky lounge with a retractable roof.

Unfortunately for Cowell his vacation hasnt been terribly relaxing, but thats entirely his fault. According to tabloid reports he invited not one but two ex-girlfriends on the cruise along with his fiance Mezhgan Hussainy. A recipe for disaster indeed. Sipstreams interiors are finished in a neo-Art Deco style combining dark ebony joinery and red leather paneling. The sun-deck is kitted out with a spa, sun-pads, bar with BBQ and al-fresco dining area, and the yacht comes equipped with a cutting edge home entertainment system including video on demand as well as a satellite communications center. He may need it to call in a MedEvac chopper before the holidays over.
