Quantative quality: 21 rare Omega Speedmasters on James
For as long as I can remember, Ive felt that theres no brand that gives you so much money for your watch as Omega, especially its trademark Speedmaster model. There are few things as yummy as a well worn Speedy Pro (lets pretend theres no automatic version, were all friends here) with a nice, faded dial and a slightly beaten up plastic crystal. One certain JamesList dealer has taken the concept further, offering up no fewer than 21 different Speedies in a limited series in one handy package.
The watches, released to commemorate the Speedmasters 40th anniversary in the late 1990s, all feature different NASA mission patches on the left subdial. The patches were originally given to astronauts who took part in manned spaceflights in the 1960s and onwards, such as the Gemini, the infamous Apollo (theres a watch for the moon landing, too) and the Skylab programs. Were just as weak for Omegas history in space as we are about Rolexs forays into the deep seas, and this cracking collection is something to watch out for. If you have 75,000, that is.
