Baume & Mercier Releases An Annual Calendar For $5000: The Classima Reference 10038

Baume & Mercier really brought out some great products at SIHH 2011. The classic chronographs were a sure-fire win, but the watch that really made us do a double-take was the Classima Reference 10038.

Sure, it's a simple dress watch with big date and steel case, but it's so much more. In fact, this is an actual annual calendar...for only $5000. Our love for this piece isn't so much based on its aesthetics, its provenance, or its rarity (it is a limited edition of 1000 pieces, just FYI), but rather it is simply because so many people dream of owning a truly complicated watch and so few brands have made it possible to do so.

How many brands offer an honest to goodness annual calendar for $5000? We know of one, and it's called the MIH watch. The MIH uses a modifed Valjoux 7750 while this Baume & Mercier uses the Dubois Depraz 14950 module.

No matter the module, this is a good looking automatic watch with a true annual calendar complication for only $5000. To us, that's a winner. With only 1000 B&M Classima Annual Calendars being produced, best get on the horn soon if you want one.
