Happy 125th Birthday, Mercedes-Benz!
On July 29th, 1886, Carl Benz walked into the Berlin patent office and made automotive (and cultural) history. His three-wheeled horseless carriage would not be a success. But 80,000 other patents later and here we are, with Mr. Benzs carriage leading the world in luxury car sales. Thats right, tomorrow the ubiquitous Mercedes-Benz will be a whopping 125 years old, and damn it looks good for its age.
Where would the world be without the iconic Mercedes logo? Think of all the empty rappers necks, and empty lower back tattoo spaces. Okay, forget about that, think of all the empty garages! Mercedes will be celebrating this landmark anniversary with a gala in Stuttgart tomorrow night, featuring German Chancellor Angela Merkel as the guest of honor. Dr. Dietre Zetsche, the chairman of the MB board says on this historic occasion, we also have the claim to shape the future of mobility: with fascinating brands, green technologies and new business opportunities. Keep up the great work, Benz!
