JeanRichard Bressel Hommage a Daniel Watch

Before they were JeanRichard, this brand had the more full name Daniel JeanRichard. The name of course refers to a man. Born in the latter part of the 17th century, Daniel JeanRichard was a key part of helping to make watch making an industry, rather than professional run by a small sect of master watch makers. In the area around Le LeLocle Switzerland, he helped introduce watch making to many more people especially Jura region farmers who needed something to do for money during winter months.

In the 1990s, Daniel JeanRichard was a brand born from the Sowind group, as a most affordable (relatively speaking) brand positioned next to Girard-Perregaux. Since then the Daniel part of the name has dropped, and JeanRichard has become a relatively under-appreciated brand since then.A shame, as its products are often quite nice. For 2011, the brand released a new watch meant as an honor to Daniel JeanRichard, based on the design of the mans first pocket watch from the early 18th century. The new piece is called the JeanRichard Bressel Hommage a Daniel, and will come in a 38mm wide 18k rose gold case with good looking white and black lacquer dial. A step up would have been an enamel dial, but this would have pushed the price of the piece out of JeanRichard territory.

The watch does have however an in-house made movement, being the JeanRichard JR1000 automatic that is also found in other brand timepieces. Overall the piece feels very influenced by its Girard-Perregaux cousins, but with a unique looking dial. Look for this timepiece soon.
