Richard Mille RM 029 With Oversize Date Watch

2011 will see a host of new Richard Mille timepieces including this easy to enjoy RM 029 with Oversize Date. Though I prefer to simply call the latter element a big date. The term oversize anything bothers me as being nonsensical but I digress. The movement is the Richard Mille calibre RMAS7 automatic with the time and a big date indicator. The dial, while complex, shows remarkable polish in terms of allowing for appreciation of the mechanics, as well as enjoying a high degree of legibility. Richard Mille is really pushing ahead when it comes to offering dials that feel like mere looks at a movement surface, but are in actuality carefully curated mechanical/visual motifs.

The movement is the watch in a sense, and can be appreciated for both the front and rear of the watch through sapphire crystals. The skeletonized movement is made from host of materials including titanium in various finishes. Aside from Richard Milles variable geometry automatic rotor, the movement has a variable inertia balance wheel (for better accuracy). There is even some 18k white gold in the movement.

Titanium cases dont get much more interesting (and higher quality) than when Richard Mille does them. The tonneau case here is 48mm tall by 39.70mm wide. The case is highly curved for comfort, and is also available in 18k white gold or red gold. An interesting note about the dial is the use of red and yellow to add some color to the dial. Richard Mille is getting more and more clever in their ability to inject color into their watches which tend to be mostly gray. Attached to the case is a high-end rubber strap. Look for the Richard Mille RM 029 watch soon.
