Frederic Jouvenot Automatic Chronograph Evolution Diamond Watch

A good looking watch that is technically interesting and successful will often times end up being dressed up in precious stones. Why? Well it is a natural reaction to want to offer a more expensive version of a watch that has appeal to many people. It might not always be in the best taste, but if a customer comes to you wanting to buy one of your watches with diamonds on it you dont tend to refuse. That might very well be how Frederic Jouvenot bedazzled his Automatic Chronograph Evolution watch. I first wrote about this piece here, where you can get more details. In short, the movement is a modified vintage chronograph that has an automatic rotor added to the dial. Very interesting.

This high-jewelry version of the watch comes in 18k white or rose gold case that is 44mm wide. The bezel is lined with 5.88 carats of baguette-cut diamonds, while more diamonds are on the dial. Notice the combination of white and black diamonds on the dial. The automatic rotor is in 22k white gold, and also set with diamonds. There are a total of 8.46 carats of diamonds on each of the Automatic Chronograph Evolution Diamond watches. I applaud Frederic Jouvenot for designing the arrangement for the diamonds to be attractive, and not as gaudy as they might have been. In this instance Frederic Jouvenot was lucky to have a watch design that lent itself to diamond decoration so well. Only five of these Automatic Chronograph Evolution Diamond watches will be made.
