Chinas take on Burj Khalifa, a $1.3 billion seven-star hotel
In a joint project with Saudi Arabia, the Beijing authorities are planning a $1.3 billion seven-star world-class deluxe hotel in western Beijings Mentougou district, which is around 30 kilometers (18 miles) from the Chinese capitals centre. Interestingly, this hotel is a look-a-like of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world and the magnificent centerpiece of downtown Dubai. The announcement was made at a press conference last Wednesday. Wang Hongzhong, chief official of the Mentougou district, said that basic graphics and planning of the seven-star hotel have been already made. He further said that it has been designed as a streamlined building like the 828-meter Khalifa Tower in Dubai.
The name of the developer and other hotel-related facts and figures have not been revealed yet. The hotel will be built at the end of Chang An avenue, a long major avenue that runs across Tiananmen Square.
