Blonde bombshell Marilyn Monroe gets a blinged makeover for charity

Southport artist Clare Wright has created a dazzling mirrored aluminum recreation of the original blonde bombshell Marilyn Monroe, which will help benefit The Marina Dalglish Appeal. The Swarovski crystal creation is part of a limited edition series of 50 by the artist. The future reproductions of the Marilyn On Mirror will sell for 3,000 ($4,750). The first one has been donated to the Marina Dalgish appeal, and will be auctioned off at the upcoming Knowsley Hall ball. Ms Wrights clients include celebrities like boxer Amir Khan and Apprentice star Karen Brady. She is quite excited with the new series and said

Everyone loves the blonde bombshell and its great to be able to give her a modern twist.

Each recreation will be decked out with 500 worth of Swarovski crystals, and will come with Claires trademark water and splash effect.

Is it us or are there a whole bunch of great new watch designs coming out these days? Remember TikTok and LunaTik , the iPod Nano conversion project we showed you on the crowd-sourced funding site KickStart? Well today we've got another timepiece project for you, also currently being featured on Kickstart. The Haptica is an innovative timepiece that indicates time using braille. The dots actually rotate on the face of the Haptica and as found and designer David Chavez puts it, represent a major step forward in timepieces for the visually impaired. If the project reaches its $150,000 capital goal, produciton will begin and each will cost around $250. Currently, Haptica has 24 backers and $13,085 secured, so we need to get some major support going here!
