Ascent Ferrari GT Phone By Vertu

If you havent fallen into the iPhone vortex, and I must admit that I have, there are plenty of other interesting phones out there, some of which do a far better job of being an actual telephone than most of the supposedly smart technology out there. This Ascent Ferrari GT phone by Vertu is one of them. Its design is inspired by, duh, the car design. This compact and ergonomic luxury phone has a titanium design and matte black finish, and with the red leather accents, it looks about as sleek and ideal as anything Ive seen, except perhaps an actual Ferrari.

The design isnt just ergonomic and aerodynamic, it also has fabulous details that increase not just the phones beauty, but also its tactile pleasurability. The smoothly blunted edges just beg to be fondled, and no Im not trying to be perverse, theyre actually designed to be fondled. Might as well, since most of us have more intimate relationships with our cell phones than with our significant others.

The new piece allows the writer to change between fountain pen, ballpoint and pencil with a unique bayonet attachment. Like the original Explorer pen, it also has a luminous ring in the cap to make it easier to locate in the dark. Remember TikTok and LunaTik , the iPod Nano conversion project we showed you on the crowd-sourced funding site KickStart? Well today we've got another timepiece project for you, also currently being featured on Kickstart. The Haptica is an innovative timepiece that indicates time using braille. The dots actually rotate on the face of the Haptica and as found and designer David Chavez puts it, represent a major step forward in timepieces for the visually impaired. If the project reaches its $150,000 capital goal, produciton will begin and each will cost around $250. Currently, Haptica has 24 backers and $13,085 secured, so we need to get some major support going here!
