30,000 Swarovski Crystals To Adorn Golden Globes Stage


Its almost time to tune in to the Golden Globes, my friends. And while I, personally, think its mostly about the red carpet, there is a pretty fancy stage to showcase all these fabulous peoples outfits. The party planners have spared no expense, either. 3,000 pounds of Austrian crystals, over 30,000 total, were flown in to the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills for the event.

If you can look past all the bling and sparkling dresses, you might notice that the decor draws its inspiration from the legendary hotels ballroom chandeliers. The decor for the event, which is 68 years in the running, nowt be limited to the stage. Crystals will be handing throughout the venue, giving guests a sparkly 360 degree experience. Try, if you can, to take your eyes off the glittering stars themselves to notice the work of production designer Brian Stonestreet of Dick Clark Productions.

Remember TikTok and LunaTik , the iPod Nano conversion project we showed you on the crowd-sourced funding site KickStart? Well today we've got another timepiece project for you, also currently being featured on Kickstart. The Haptica is an innovative timepiece that indicates time using braille. The dots actually rotate on the face of the Haptica and as found and designer David Chavez puts it, represent a major step forward in timepieces for the visually impaired. If the project reaches its $150,000 capital goal, produciton will begin and each will cost around $250. Currently, Haptica has 24 backers and $13,085 secured, so we need to get some major support going here!
